The TBR Book Tag

With the arrival of a new year, I figured there couldn’t be a more fitting time to feature TBR lists as this month’s featured book tag. I saw this particular tag on Shaelit‘s blog.

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?
My TBR largely starts out in print form and then expands to multiple copies (which often include ebooks and audiobooks). My bookshelves are approximately 95% unread books, terrible/amazing I know!

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
The vast majority of the time the books I read are dictated by my mood, but on the rare occasion I have to prioritise university required reading above pleasure reading.

A book that’s been on your TBR the longest?
According to Goodreads, it is The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern.

A book that you recently added to your TBR?
Caraval by Stephanie Garber – it popped up on a Goldsboro Books email ages ago and I pre-ordered it, and now it seems to be receiving a ton of positive reviews.

A book on your TBR strictly because it has a beautiful cover?
These Broken Stars by Aime Kaufman and Meagan Spooner – I’m assuming it’s a YA sci-fi/fantasy, but I really don’t know.

A book on your TBR that you NEVER plan on actually reading?
All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr – historical fiction is my least favourite genre, so even though it has received stellar reviews, I’ll probably never read it.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?
Release by Patrick Ness – I read A Monster Calls last year and absolutely adored it, so I’m looking forward to a new book by the author.

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you?
Allegiant by Veronica Roth – I loved Divergent, disliked Insurgent and haven’t heard good things about the concluding volume, so I’m not sure I’ll ever read it.

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?
You’d be surprised how few people actually recommend books to me (certainly I can count people IRL on one hand), but The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater always generates positive recommendations.

A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?
Wing Jones by Katherine Webber – I heard about this book at YALC 2016, and it finally came out this month: it’s certainly a priority read for the next few months.

The number of books on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
The current total stands at 339, but I know there are more books on my actual shelves that are TBR than my ‘virtual’ shelves.
