My Intimidating TBR Book Tag

Tag time! I saw this one on Fictional Living (and it’s been circling the blogosphere lately) months ago, but (surprise, surprise) I was too intimidated by my TBR to pick the books that intimidate me. It’s a problem!

I haven’t read this book because… I haven’t got the time
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
Although it’s a terrible excuse, I don’t feel as though I have the time to commit myself to this ginormous trilogy, even knowing that it possesses stellar reviews.

I haven’t read this book because… it’s a sequel
The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
I really, really want to begin this series, but it’s been one I’ve been putting off for a while and I can’t even fathom why. It’s been likened to Harry Potter‘s Marauders, so I ought to love it, but I need to pick up The Raven Boys first.

I haven’t read this book because… it’s brand new
The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer
This book landed on my doorstep this week and I am keen to get to it. I adore thrillers and The Twilight Saga is one of my favourite series, so I have high expectations for this one.

I haven’t read this book because… I didn’t like the author
Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Unpopular opinion though it may be, I did not enjoy Insurgent (despite liking Divergent) so I have had no burning desire to pick up the series conclusion.

I haven’t read this book because… I’m not in the mood for it
All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Historical fiction is probably my least favourite genre, but this has received such excellent feedback (including from people I trust implicitly when it comes to book recommendations) that I added it to my TBR – though I’m not sure I’ll ever get to it.

I haven’t read this book because… it’s huge
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
Sarah, why must you write such long novels? I enjoyed Throne of Glass, but was slightly disappointed in Crown of Midnight: this third volume is a beast, hence my apprehension.

I haven’t read this book because… it was a cover buy
A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
No-one can deny the beauty of the cover, but I know nothing about the premise (I have a niggling suspicion it’s about alternate realities, but I could be completely off the mark!)

I haven’t read this book because… it’s the most intimidating book on my shelf
The Stand by Stephen King
I have never read a Stephen King novel, and as much as I intend to, they are terrifyingly massive. This was the one most recommended to me, and I will get to it some day.
