Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books On My TBR That I Still Haven’t Read

August 23: Top Ten Books On My TBR That I Still Haven’t Read
This week’s prompt was very specific in that it desired a list of books that have been on my TBR since before I started (book) blogging that I still haven’t read: game on! Un/fortunately, this list could have been much, much longer!

1. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
My Granny bought me this trilogy almost two years ago, and I’ve yet to read the first page. I believe it’s about teenage superheros with crazy powers, which sounds good in theory, but having failed to finish Gone by Michael Grant (I despised it), I’m nervous.

2. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Another trilogy bought for me by my Granny that I’ve not yet begun. I’ve heard really good things about this psychological/paranormal series, and I just need to get on with it.

3. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
I believe I first heard of this book on Goodreads and Instagram; promptly bought it and its sequel and never picked it up. I’ve never read an “aliens” book so I’m slightly apprehensive in terms of its delivery.

4. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
A fantasy series I know little to nothing about: I have heard amazing reviews from book bloggers, so one day I will get to this series.

5. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
The only fact I am aware of regarding this novel is that the protagonist is named Juliet: I don’t even know the genre, but the entire trilogy has been sitting on my shelves for so long that I need to right that wrong.

6. Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
JesseTheReader constantly sings its praises, and with the movie coming out soon I really need to finally bite the bullet and read this trilogy.

7. Half Bad by Sally Green
BenjaminOfTomes loves this series and its author, and having seen Sally Green on a panel at YALC and being really impressed with her world-building descriptions, I really want to begin these books.

8. The Selection by Kiera Cass
I’ve heard mixed reviews about this series, hence why I’ve been putting it off. Apparently the main character is really annoying, and the thought of starting a series with a terrible protagonist doesn’t really appeal to me.

9. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
I heard about this series years ago, but it was only when my friend Alice said how good it was that I finally bought the books. I do really want to read this one, but four books is a lot to commit to.

10. The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
The first two books are out and the third is due for release later in the year: I bought it when I heard that Emma Watson was due to star in the movie – is that still happening?!

  1. The Raven Boys and The Darkest Minds are both fantastic, though I’m sure you’ve heard that a million times by now, haha! Especially The Raven Boys. If could pick one of those to recommend over all the others, I’d pick TRB.

    Great list! 🙂

  2. Miss P’s Home for Peculiar Children is another one I need to get around to reading… especially before the movie comes out! It isn’t out yet is it?!

I loved books 1-3 in The Raven Cycle, but the final book was a disappointment for me 😦

The Selection wasn’t my cup of tea, but I know most people adore the series!
