Case In Point

I’ve always been a lover of books, but in the past six months or so my book buying has exploded exponentially. My books have never fit on my bookshelf; they’ve always migrated under my bed, and into piles in every corner of every room of the house. This has only become a problem lately. We’ve run out of corners.

A couple of weeks ago I managed to convince my Dad that I needed some new bookcases to beautifully house some of my fabulous collection, and he didn’t need much persuading; anything to remove the piles from the landing.

Last weekend he bought me a couple of standard DIY bookcases, which I explained to him would fit against the “free” wall in the spare room. In reality, I knew that they would probably be a few inches longer than the wall (thankfully not a serious issue, other than a toe-stubbing hazard).

Yesterday Mum and I assembled the bookcases – she did most of the heavy lifting, I did most of the directing – and today, Dad put them in place and bolted them together. All that was left for me to do was fill them with action and adventure – there was even room for me to unbox 16 of my Funko Pop Vinyls to display.

I estimate that these two new bookcases are currently holding approximately half of my book collection. Since they are in the spare room, and therefore prying guests could pick them up (or in theory, steal them), I have kept all signed copies, all copies of Harry Potter, and all other JKR/RG books safely in my room.

I’m a very happy bibliophile today!

  3. I love the Pop figures. They’re all so cute, I’ve been trying to resist for fear of quickly ending up with a bazillion of them. I caved though and got my first one for Christmas. I love your invisible Frodo.

What do the tipped forward ones mean?

    • It is an addictive and expensive road to go down with Pops. I’ve amassed over 60 since December!
The books tipped forward is merely for my reference as to what I read and/or hauled this month, as I need to write my wrap-up and book haul soon! They’ll go up once I’ve taken photos and written the posts πŸ™‚
